This activity is made possible in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Looms and Community Centers

December 2023-April 2024

Out of the Box partnered with six community centers to provide inclusive, accessible opportunities through weaving.

Each community center housed a 36"x48" loom & patrons were invited to create a collaborative tapestry.

The tapestries will be displayed at Out of the Box Gallery from May 16-June 31st. The show will also acknowledge Out of the Box Studio artists who helped manage the project.

After the exhibition, the tapestries will be donated back to the community centers for patrons to admire for years to come.

Walls in Spaces

Out of the Box Studio & Gallery is on display at East Ferry Deli located at 47 Conanicus Avenue in Jamestown.

We will be displaying a new artist every few months.

Our first artist is Tony Chece.

“I have been doing art for 8 years. I like to do any kind of art and I like to work with colored pencils the most. I’m a good person and I like to share my art for everyone to see.”
